What were you doing before the course?
I had just left my job as a journalist to go freelance.

What motivated you to do this course now?
I wanted to expand my skills to be able to offer layout and design capabilities along with writing and reporting skills to clients. I wanted to do a relatively short course and figured I would do it now, before I have too much freelance work to do.

Have you had any previous graphic design experience?
No previous experience, although I've worked closely with the design team at various publishing companies I've worked with. I had an idea of what the job involves.  

What do you like about the course?
Progress at Shillington has definitely been faster than I imagined before starting the course. [There is] a lot of practical work vs lectures; it's taught by working graphic designers and the class size is right.
