Where do you work?
Momentum Worldwide, which is a part of the IPG world group.
What is your role?
Designer, creative and resident pool champion!
Did you feel confident about entering the design industry after you graduated?
Absolutely. Shillington gave me all the tools I needed to get into the industry. From technical, application-based skills to heightening my passion for the discipline (which is a must in this industry)!
What were you doing before the course?
Internships at in-house studios, agencies, even repro houses that actually gave me a great foundation for print and the production process. All of my placements were invaluable.
Why did you decide to do the course?
I loved design but hated formal, long, drawn out education. After I went to the Open House, chatted with some of the teachers and found out what it was all about, it was a no-brainer.
What was the most valuable thing you took away from the course?
I think the course taught me exactly what design really is. It's not just Photoshop or any other computer application. It's line-form, color, psychology etc. Shillington gave me all the tools I needed to actually get a job and without compromising my passion for design. It was a relaxed environment of likeminded people and I enjoyed every second of it.
Where do you see yourself in 12 months?
Still at Momentum. They're a fantastic agency that is growing by the day. I hope to be doing more digital and animation work eventually.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
I can't really isolate one single aspect. In general, it was just so great to get into the industry so quickly and learn more whilst on the job. If I had to pick one highlight then I guess it would be getting a great job!
